Because the entire world may suggest there is some sort of "recession" going on (I prefer to think about the re:session), two mountains are up for sale and it is time for Boloney Moguls to go even bigger. Intrepid sleuth AtheFilter has tracked down this article in the BFP.
To summarize, Stowe Mountain Resort is up for sale. Sold in 2007 for 85$ million and has appreciated in value since then, details are sketchy on if they are going public or private of if they have any perspective buyers lined up.
Perhaps most interesting: "“Our hope is that our buyer will continue to develop Stowe in the environmentally respectful master plan that has been eight years in the making,” Tulupman said."
So clearly we know what we can do. If we buy this place we can totally screw over all the hippie tree huggers and do whatever we want. I think it is win win.
Also, look at this from skitheeast.net about Magic Mountain:
"Thank you all for your review of my letter last week in which I introduced the concept of co-operative ownership of Magic. I am encouraged by the number and the tenor of the responses. I understand that further details need to be presented in order for many of you to make a commitment to purchasing shares, and the purpose of this letter is to answer many of the specific inquiries which have been posed. In addition, in short order I will present a business plan, a five year budget, and a list of capital projects and the associated costs. As always, I appreciate your input, commentary, and questions, and I am hopeful that you all will continue to provide them."
It of course goes on to say that they want to sell 300 shares at 5000$ each. Now that's a deal. Who wants to own part of a mountain? I do! I do! Check out more details here http://www.savemagicvermont.com/

To further level up your stokeness right now, check out this awesome powder skiing video from Redbull.
The line at around 2:20 is still a mystery to me. Does he fall? Does he tumble? Was it all intentional? There is so much pow it doesn't seem to matter.

What to Watch (Brighton, Traveling Circus, None More Blacker)
While scanning the interwebs for all things that are awesome. Many cool ski vids popped up.
First, a new episode of Line Skis' Traveling Circus. Definitely another great ep and well worth watching.
Next up, while trolling youtube for Warren Millerisms, I found this gem. From the 2003 snow flick "Cold Fusion," the WM guys head over to Brighton, Utah in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Did I mention Boloney blasted that part of UT this season?
More Amazing Warren Miller action. This time at the potential South American Boloney compound at Portillio, Chile.
Quick None More Blacker update:
We've toured the world and elsewhere and have completed our principal photography for the project. After countless hours locked in my editing booth, the first raw cut of the full feature is complete. Much editing and revision remains. Focus groups will be employed. Poison control experts and swine flu patients utilized. Current plans suggest a Walton Debauchery release party, with a start to the Boloney Moguls Summer season featurette following.
A blast from the past (once audio becomes unsyched at cocktail hour, switch and watch part II):

None More Blacker (Featuring Dong Stül)
In the final character feature to drop teasing the upcoming snow epic "None More Blacker" is Dong Stül. Traditionally I could go on for pages describing the various players in NMB, but this long-time Boloner's ethos cannot be explained with words. Instead, enjoy this teaser and get ready for NMB to drop. Start planning your NMB premiere party now. Think mid-May.

James F. Cleary (1947-2009)
An aside from the traditional posts here. On Sunday, April 19th, 2009 my father passed away at the age of 61. An avid sportsmen and all around outdoorsey guy - I got all my boloney nature from him.

If anyone was thinking of doing flowers or any of that frou frou crap (something old man Cleary definitely was not a fan of), we'd ask that in lieu of that you make a donation to Saint Vincent de Paul Society - a charitable org which helps people in emergency need situation in our local community. Any checks can be made to: SVDP Society, C/o st Joesph's church, 1346 Broadway, Hewlett, NY 11557

En Route America (What to Watch)
Nimbus Independent has been putting out some awesome ski videos all season or "webisodes" as the kids called them known as "en route." They just released, via Line Skis site a 22 minute HD video based in what I'm thinking is a mix of Mammoth, CA backcountry and Oregon perhaps. Definitely give it a watch embedded below, but if you really want to treat yourself, download the HD version and check it out. They might not have East Coast steeze, but hey, it is still pretty awesome.
And of course, keep up on all None More Blacker news here. And remember, you can watch all NMB teasers and video that's available on this playlist.
As a quick update on that: the slaves are grinding away painfully splicing each frame together in an endless tedium that will ensure the most metal snow-riding flick ever. Still waiting on sponsors to help raise the production value of the feature. I'm looking at YOU Burton, Ride, Line, Drake, 686, Snowbird, Jackson Hole Ski Resort, Teton Gravity Research, Meathead Films, DC, Skitheeast, Brainfarm! Be ready for a mid-May drop and a premiere viewing-party.
