En Route America (What to Watch)

Nimbus Independent has been putting out some awesome ski videos all season or "webisodes" as the kids called them known as "en route." They just released, via Line Skis site a 22 minute HD video based in what I'm thinking is a mix of Mammoth, CA backcountry and Oregon perhaps. Definitely give it a watch embedded below, but if you really want to treat yourself, download the HD version and check it out. They might not have East Coast steeze, but hey, it is still pretty awesome.

As a quick update on that: the slaves are grinding away painfully splicing each frame together in an endless tedium that will ensure the most metal snow-riding flick ever. Season Coming to a Close (Recap)

Since November of 08 (maybe late October?), the season has been going strong. Much fun and rejoicing has been had. Shredding hills all over and every imaginable ski condition. From the early season brutal cold Dong described at Killy opening, two epic pow weekends - that I may have missed, as reported here and here; two major trips out west; nearly countless weekends up in VT, whether at Pico, Killy, or Mount Snow; I had numerous mid-Atlantic crap fests; and finally some good clean fun at the NY mountains: Bellayre, Hunter, Windham. As far north as Jay, VT; as far south as Liberty, PA; and all the way out West to Utah. Boloney Moguls covered some serious ground. We did onesies, shred vests, Starters and jeans, and all sorts of other sweet styles. Utilizing nearly every form of transit besides sea planes, helicopters, or luges; Boloney could be seen on Buses (ugh, the horror), trains, subways, metros, cars, trucks, SUVs, and planes sporting steeze and carrying snowboards, skis, and booze.

Some rough calculations for myself. (Guys, chime in below in the comments with your own recaps) 21 days of boarding. 12 different mountains. 5 states boarded in. Rough overview of travels:
DC - Mount Snow VT - 1,000 miles
DC - Windham/Hunter NY - 700 miles
DC - Pico VT- 1,000 miles
DC - Snowbird/Brighton Utah - 4,000 miles
DC - Whitetail, PA - 150 miles
DC - Seven Springs, PA - 400 miles
DC - Jay Peak, Michael Bolton Valley VT - 1,500 miles
DC - Liberty, PA - 150 miles
DC - Jackson Hole WY- 4,000 miles
DC - Liberty, PA - 150 miles (Closing day)
DC - Hunter NY- 700 miles (Closing Day)

Total mileage for round trips (estimation) = 17,750 miles

While the season isn't over - Killington Pond skimming, Mount snow has some life left - the end is nigh. Summer we're hoping to maybe go South of the equator or perhaps will get out to Mount Hood for a bit. Most importantly we need to be investing in making a summer backyard park Meatheads style.

None More Blacker would not be the snow adventure it will be without Boloney Moguls' Mid-Atlantic moron often behind the camera and on the bus. From his award-winning competition victory at SkiLiberty to his near-death experience at Snowbird, last season's Seen was knighted the title of "Power."

Full disclosure: I am the operator here and the lead editor on NMB. Much self-restraint was required to not make me look amazing at all things that I do. Okay, that's a lie. It would be a great challenge to actually make me look like I know what I'm doing. As Dong Stül said: "He's the sketchiest rider I've ever seen."

Radio Ron is a shred god. Do it up one time DIP DIP DIP. This is of course him slaying the bumps on Stein's Run at Sugarbush, VT. And just to clarify in case you're dense, Radio Ron is skiing and the voice you hear is him wired up to a body mic, not the camera guy.

The other half of the Kelly Clan, the king of wine crushing, the slayer of snakeskin, the savior of sweaters, ambassador of awesomeness, he puts the Donkey in Kong, DK himself, DAN. This ski whiz has been tearing up the slopes for years with his puckered lips. Located out of Btown, this killer Kelly brings style and flash to every run. Snowbird Rises, Jackson Falls (Out West Report)

It seems Jackson is nowhere near as gnarly as once thought. After an epic two weeks of snowfall, Jackson did the only sensible thing. CLOSE DOWN FOR THE SEASON. I seriously can't believe it. Even though they had an announced "close date" months in advance, they actually stuck to it even though they have received massive dumpings. Hell, Mount Snow, Killington, even Hunter are still open! But Jackson Hole's 500+ inches and 100 inch base was not enough. Jackson - you're on notice.

And to the awesomness. Snowbird is officially calling it 12 days 12 feet. This user-created video below is a testament to how amazing the conditions were (and still are) and just how good that mountain really is.
